Fine food, excellent service and worth every penny view of the surrounding hills. Well-appointed and top-notch unit with coffee/tea making equipment and glassware. Great separate bathroom. Fantastic location right in the centre, savoury breakfast.

The breakfast is savoury and delicious served with ham and a vegetarian option, for instance. The bus stop is 10 minutes' walk away.

Lovely stay with great hosts!

Had an amazing 2-night stay! The place was super clean and cozy, with all the essentials. Tracey and Kevin were so friendly and. Breakfast was great, especially the local produce. Just wish there were a few more options for afternoon snacks. It was a fab experience!

Had to find breakfast options elsewhere since early morning service wasn't available, particularly for us early risers. The majority of nearby eateries closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The limited hours felt a bit restrictive during peak season. A small missing touch was the absence of dressing gowns in specific rooms, which could've added to the comfort level.

We were disappointed to find no early breakfast options available. This was particularly frustrating as we had planned to start our day early for hiking. The lack of flexibility in dining hours left us feeling unaccommodated, which overshadowed our overall enjoyment of the visit.

Absolutely Charming Stay in the Heart of Ambleside!

We had a fantastic two-night stay, soaking in the beautiful bay window views from our spacious double room. The hosts went out of their way, drying our hiking gear. A quick tip, check local dining hours, especially on weekdays, as many places close early! We'll be back!

Suitable for a relaxing escape

The breakfast choices were endless, I mean, they had full English, smoked salmon, and even vegetarian options. As for the room, it was spotlessly clean and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. They even had a generous supply of quality toiletries, that's attention to detail.

It wasn't cheap, but for what we got, it felt worth it.

Melrose guesthouse was fantastic! Our double room was spacious and very comfortable, with a lovely en-suite. They offered a wide choice for breakfast, and it was all perfectly cooked. Kevin and tracy were super friendly. Plus, the location is perfect, just a short walk to shops and the royal oak pub, which we loved.

The proximity to eateries felt limiting, especially when many options were closed on weekdays. I also found the shower space cramped. There was also a lack of evening entertainment options, leaving me searching for things to do after a long day.

The Small Double Room was super comfy. Spotlessly clean and nicely decorated, it had everything I needed-great shower and quality toiletries. The bed was like a cloud! Even the heating was easily controlled. Just perfect for getting a good night's sleep after a day of exploring.

Absolutely Wonderful Stay!

The location was perfect, just a short stroll from shops and fine walking trails. The only downside was that parking was a bit distant, but given the wonderful stay, it was a minor issue.
